UFC 294 results – Makhachev vs. Volkanovski 2
UFC officials held their latest fight card at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, October 21. MyMMANews has UFC 294 results below.
In the main event, UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev puts his title on the line for a second time as UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski looks to wear gold in two different weight classes. Volkanovski stepped into UFC 294’s main event as a replacement for Charles Oliveira on less than two weeks’ notice after the former lightweight champion suffered a nasty cut above his right eye. Makhachev edged Volkanovski in a controversial unanimous decision victory this past February.
In the co-main event slot, former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman moves up to middleweight on short notice to meet undefeated Khamzat Chimaev. Paulo Costa was slated to face Chimaev but was forced out of the bout after being diagnosed with a staph infection following a recent elbow surgery.
