UFC Fight Night 135 results – UFC Lincoln – Gaethje vs. Vick

Tonight the Ultimate Fighting Championship brought UFC Fight Night 135 to the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska. The fight card kicked off on UFC Fight Pass at 6:30 p.m. before switching over to FS 2 at 8 p.m. and then FOX Sports 1 at 10 p.m. EST.

In the main event, former World Series of Fighting lightweight champion and Ultimate Fighter coach Justin Gaethje met James Vick. Gaethje was originally scheduled to take on ‘Raging’ Al Iaquinta but when the fight fell through Vick took the call.  Good God!!!!! Gaethje laid Vick out early in the opening round.  Brutal finish.  Gaethje finally earns his second UFC win.

Rani Yahya started off the night on Fight Pass by defeating Luke Sanders by heel hook in the first round.  Yahya then calls out bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw following the finish.

Drew Dober stayed buys for 15-full minutes in his fight with Jon Tuck.  Tuck’s face battered and bruised in the process but unfortunately it was not his night.  Dober wins unanimously in his home state.

Joanne Calderwood 2.0 has arrived.  Calderwood of Syndicate MMA was yet to earn a submission victory in the UFC.  Tonight, with just three seconds left in the first round against Kalindra Faria, Calderwood locks up a triangle choke from the bottom and transitioned to an armbar which forced her opponent to tap.

Mickey Gall kicked off the preliminary card on FS2 with a very quick win over fellow New Jersey native George Sullivan.  Gall gets the win by first round rear-naked choke submission.

Iuri Alcantara had a nasty armbar on Cory Sandhagen in their fight on FS 2, but somehow Sandhagen’s arm was saved and he continued to fight, only to bounce back and TKO Alcantara in the second fram.

James Krause, a huge underdog on the betting cards, surprises many to defeated Warlley Alves by knockout in the second round.

Bryan Barberena defeated longtime UFC veteran Jake Ellenberger halfway through the first round.  With wins over both Joe and Jake, Barberena has defeated both Ellenberger brothers.  Jake sets his gloves down in the center of the octagon and retires from the sport.

Cortney Casey finally came out on the winning side of a split decision victory in the UFC as she got passed former Invicta FC strawweight champ Angela Hill.  Casey outstruck Hill but it wasn’t anything to write home about, as it was extremely close.  Hill also locked in an armbar submission attempt in the first but Casey was able to weather the storm and pull through.  Very tough fight to decide but Casey gets the win.

Ultimate Fighter winner Michael Johnson earned his first victory at featherweight with a hard fought split decision win over Andre Fili.
