UFC Fight Night 60 results – Henderson vs Thatch
Former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson made his UFC welterweight debut tonight as a late replacement fill in against Brandon Thatch. The UFC Fight Night 60, Valentine’s Day event was held in Broomfield, Colorado and aired on FOX Sports 1.
The absence of heavyweights on the card was unusual but was likely due to the crafty matchmaking of Sean Shelby and Joe Silva after the bigger men had trouble breathing at the higher altitude the last time the UFC was in the state.
Thatch started out strong as the bigger and stronger fighter, but the former champion was able to hold on and submit the hometown favorite in the fourth. Henderson and Thatch would each take home an extra $50k for the Fight of the Night.
Neil Magny who tied the UFC record last year for most wins in a calendar year with five, won his sixth straight by defeated Kiichi Kunimoto via rear-naked-choke in the third round. Magny also earned $50k with a Performance of the Night bonus.
