UFC Fight Night 63 results – Mendes makes quick work of Lamas

In a rarity, UFC Fight Night 63 actually took place during the day rather than at night even though the event was held stateside in Fairfax, Virginia, April 4.

The preliminary bouts at the Patriot Center began at 11 a.m., EST.

The main event featured a featherweight showdown between Ricardo Lamas and Chad Mendes. From the get-go the bout was all “Money” as the fight probably could have been stopped earlier.  Mendes even signaled to the referee as if to say “are you going to step in?”  The fight was over at 2:45 in Round 1.

The co-main event resulted in a razor thin split decision win for lightweight Al Iaquinta over Jorge Masvidal.

TUF winner Julianna Pena returned after a year-long layoff due to injury to defeat Milana Dudieva via TKO in the very first round.  Ring rust? Ain’t nobody got time for that.

In the main fight on the preliminary bout Marine Corps Veteran Liz Carmouche defeated former Invicta FC champion Lauren Murphy via unanimous decision in a bout that should have been awarded to Murphy.
