UFC Fight Night 92 Results: Caceres vs Rodriguez
UFC Fight Night 92 marks a historic event for the UFC as it is the organization’s first trip to Salt Lake City, Utah.
The event kicks off on UFC Fight Pass at 7pm ESt and then switches over to Fox Sports 1.
The main event featured Alex “Bruce Leeroy” Caceres and Yair Rodriguez in a featherweight bout. Rodriguez earned a split decision nod to continue moving up the rankings.
In the co-main event Dennis Bermudez put on an absolute clinic against Brazilian, Rony Jason, and after his hand was raised as the declared victor, Bermudez called out Frankie Edgar for Madison Square Garden.
Ultimate Fighter winner Court McGee, the only Utah native on the card dropping Dominique Steele in less than two seconds into the fight with a big right hand but from there the fight was not always his for the taking. Both McGee and Steele had their moments but the fight would go the entire 15 minutes with McGee getting the judges’ decision.
Cub Swanson vs Tatsuya Kawajiri was an exciting featherweight bout that was temporarily halted in the second round after an accidental knee landed on a grounded Kawajiri. When the action resumed and worked its way to the third round, Kawajiri used his wrestling agility to take Swanson down but not for long. Swanson had his own share of ground control in the final round and the fight would go the distance with the fans standing and cheering for their efforts.
In the opening fight of the night, two new heavyweight newcomers, Justin Ledet and Chase Sherman came to bang it out. The two men stood toe-to-toe for three full rounds. Essentially Ledet put on a boxing clinic while Sherman who was bloodied and battered became winded but had several bursts of energy and power shots but not enough to hand Ledet his first loss.
