UFC Fight Night 98 results: Dos Anjos vs. Ferguson
Tonight at the Mexico City Arena, former UFC lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos took on the surging Tony Ferguson in the main event of UFC Fight Night 98. The event was televised via FS1. The winner of this fight could potentially be lined up for a title shot.
Ferguson defeated the former lightweight champion to record his ninth straight win.
In the co-main event, Ultimate Fighter Season 1 winner Diego Sanchez was the underdog against newcomer Marcin Held, but Sanchez did what Sanchez does and put up a fight to earn a unanimous decision victory.
Charles Oliveira was to meet Ricardo Lamas at featherweight buy yesterday the Brazilian fighter weighed in at lightweight, 155 pounds. The Oliveira-Lamas fight was still a go however as Oliveira has been fined 30 percent of his purse, which goes to Lamas, and he was permitted to weigh more than 165 pounds on fight night.
Oliveira came close to getting the win in the first round via submission but Lamas weathered the storm and survived the round. In the second round Lamas was able to submit the Brazilian to get the win.
Martin Bravo defeated Claudio Puelles to become the Ultimate Fighter Season 3: Latin America lightweight tournament winner. Bravo was coached by Ultimate Fighter season 1 winner and UFC Hall of Famer, Forrest Griffin.
Alexa Grasso made an impressive crossover from Invicta FC as she put on a dominant performance over Heather Jo Clark.
Joe Soto made quick work of his opponent Marco Beltran with a perfectly executed heel hook submission in the first round of their scheduled three round affair.
