UFC on ESPN+ 36 Results: Roxanne Modafferi defeats Andrea Lee

UFC‘s long run inside the APEX continues with UFC on ESPN+ 36 tonight, Saturday, Sept. 12.

Headlining the event is a women’s strawweight fight between Michelle Waterson and Angela Hill. The c0-main event features two rising lightweights in Khama Worthy and unbeaten prospect Ottoman Azaitar.

A featured fight of the evening is between two flyweight fighters coming off a loss to Lauren Murphy, seeking to get back on track with a victory. No. 8-ranked Roxanne Modafferi (24-18-0) squares up against No. 9-ranked Andrea Lee (11-4-0).

These two ladies match up extremely well, as their tale of the tape shows no distinct advantage for either fighter.

Fans can be excited for a fight that lines up for the warrior with the biggest heart to walk away with he victory.

Here is how the flyweight bout between Roxanne Modafferi and Andrea Lee went down at UFC on ESPN+ 36, including round-by-round scoring. For the full results of the event, check them out right here.

Round 1

The two women open up the fight exchanging strikes. Lee throws a kick and RM catches it and brings Lee to the ground. Lee scrambles and gets back to her feet. Lee pressuring RM and holding the center. Lee throws Rm with a hip toss and working from the top on RM. Lee using an over-hook to keep RM on the ground and RM uses an under-hook to stand back up. RM takes Lee down and working from half guard with elbows. RM looking to transition as she lands more right hands to the face of Lee. Lee trying to tie-up the hands of RM. RM landing a lot of significant strikes from the top but Lee works a reversal and comes out on the back of RM and they climb to their feet. The two in a clinch against the cage as the horn ends the round.

Round 2

The two fighters exchanging strikes. Both fighters keep pushing forward throwing combos. RM landing a few more strikes than Lee. Lee starting to find a grove and lands a kick. RM  continues working and moving. Lee uses a Thai clinch and a foot sweep to bring RM down. Lee with another takedown and lands a knee and RM stands back up and begins to fight off Lee’s attack. Lee pushing forward. Landed a spinning back fist and tries it again a few strikes later. She follows it up with a couple of kicks. Lee taking over this round. And, RM catches a kick and drags Lee to the canvas with a single-leg. The two fighters throw fists while locked up on the ground as the horn sounds sending the fight to the final round.

Round 3

RM comes out strong in round three picking up her volume of striking. Mixing in kicks as Lee’s corner is yelling to pick up the volume of strikes. Lee now pushing forward but throwing heavy shots. The volume appears to be down from round two, but she’s moving forward still. RM landing a few straights as she dips back and forth. Lee throws a combo as she’s given the TV audience a nice grunt. Lee throws a spinning back fist and gets taken down by RM. RM in half guard. RM throwing strikes to the face of Lee. Lee scrambles and working to get back to her feet. She’s successful and  RM brings her right back down to the canvas. RM throwing “rabbit punches” as Bisping called them. Lee trying to tie up the hands of RM. RM not doing much from the top. Lee scrambles and scores ad reversal and on top to end the fight.
