UFC Rankings Update: Marlon Moraes and Jose Aldo now top contenders

The UFC headed to Brazil for the first time of the year. The card was headlined by a battle of the two top contenders at bantamweight, in Marlon Moraes vs Raphael Assuncao 2.

Assuncao narrowly beat Moraes in the first fight by split-decision, in what was Moraes’ UFC debut. Fast forward two years later and the two were fighting again for the number one contender spot, in which Moraes submitted Assuncao in the first round. Moraes is seemingly now the top contender and should be fighting for the title next.

Meanwhile, in the co-main event, former featherweight champion, Jose Aldo was taking on rising contender Renato Moicano. In the end, Aldo defeated Moicano by TKO in the second round to once again be the top contender at featherweight.
