UFC Release Three Fighters From Roster, Also Dashon Johnson cut for participating in Boxing

UFC Release Three Fighters From Roster

Three fighters’ profiles were deleted from the UFC.com database late last night, a precursor that a fighter is on their way out from the promotion. UFC has not made an official statement yet. The fighter profiles deleted:

Anthony Njokuani (lightweight)

Bruno Santos (middleweight)

Anying Wang (welterweight)

The 34 year old Njokuani went 3-5 in the UFC, with his last two fights being decision losses to Vin Pichel and Daron Cruickshank.

Bruno Santos came into the UFC with a 13-0 record, only to go a disappointing 1-2 in the UFC in lackluster fights.

Anying Wang was a surprise release, he won his debut and then lost his next match, the 24 year old Mongolian fighter, fighting out of Phucket Top Team had an overall MMA record of 2-1. With a few fights outside of the UFC and some success,  it would not be a surprise to see him back in the UFC again.

Details also emerged that the previously released Dashon Johnson was cut from the UFC for fighting in a boxing match without the UFC’s approval.

The UFC informed 411 Mania that a breach in contract was the cause for Johnson’s removal.

“UFC athletes are permitted to take part in grappling competitions so long as they provide notice to our matchmakers. We do not permit our athletes to take part in striking competitions while under contract.”

Johnson was 9-0 prior to being signed by the UFC, where he dropped back to back submission losses to Jake Matthews and Godofredo Castro.
