UFC Vegas 17: Jimmy Flick and Cody Durden – In Detail
Featured at UFC Vegas 17, Dana White Contender Series standout, Jimmy Flick and Cody Durden will now handle their business on Dec. 19. Initially scheduled to take place on Dec. 5, Durden (11-2-1) announced on social media he was pulled from the first fight with Flick (15-5) due to minor health complications.
Fighting out of American Top Team Atlanta, Durden is dangerous everywhere. With his UFC debut ending in a draw, he will surely look to make a statement this time out. Holding a rare slam knockout on his record, Durden is a problem at all ranges. In addition, he’s shown grappling skills with several submissions to his name. Given his strength of competition, his seven-fight win streak is nothing short of impressive.
I did everything in my power to make the fight go on. I was not cleared by the UFC doctor to fight last night. I woke up in Vegas with pink eye Wednesday. Called the UFC doctors, picked up the prescription eye drops, did exactly what I was suppose to do in this situation. pic.twitter.com/YQUsvIDb2V

Riding a violent three-fight win streak, Flick’s arm-triangle chokes have been cashing checks. Asked about cutting weight twice in a row, Flick responded with, “No not hard at all because it’s just back to gym for another hard week of training and then another week of cardio with the weight cut, I think the weight cut could work in my favor since I’ve fought at 125 more and that was actually Cody’s first time to make 125.”
Also, Flick mentioned some athletes giving him good looks. Like XFL mainstay Micah Stockton, and to help with wrestling, Cody Karstetter was brought in. In fact, the submission specialist clarified he’s at Forza MMA full-time now and training a lot more. Overall Jimmy Flick and Cody Durden will pair well with the violence this monster 15-fight card is sure to bring. The top of the bill will feature elite strikers in Stephen Thompson and Geoff Neal going to war.
