Umar Nurmagomedov, Khabib’s Cousin, To Fight At PFL 6 In Atlantic City

Umar Nurmagomedov has been added to the first playoff card for the PFL. He will be a regular fight on the PFL 6 card. The cousin of UFC champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov, has fought once in the PFL last season. Umar Nurmagomedov recently advanced to 10-0 with a win on GFC 14: Dagestan. Nurmagomedov is slated to fight Sidemar Honorio who is 13-6, with his last fight being a fight at Bellator 209.

“Umar Nurmagomedov has proven to be more than just ‘Khabib’s cousin,’ he is a rising star in the sport with unlimited potential,” said Ray Sefo, PFL president. “We’re excited to add Umar to our PFL 6 card, building on what will be an incredible night of Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight action with Playoff spots on the line. This is also a great opportunity for Sidemar to fight close to home and prove himself against a difficult opponent in front of a national audience.”

In Nurmagomedov’s last fight, he dominated his opponent on the ground with vicious ground and pound that ended in a first round rear naked choke. The fight was a part of GFC, which Khabib has involvement in.

Umar Nurmagomedov comes from Russia training at Russian Kickboxing Academy and American Kickboxing Academy, splitting his time between the two. He trains with his cousin, Khabib, often at AKA in San Jose. Honorio comes out of Renzo Gracie Philly.

Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight Takes Center Stage

PFL 6 is has a star studded list of heavyweight and light heavyweight fighters including Kelvin Tiller, Vinny Magalhaes, Francimar Barroso, Alex Nicholson amongst others.

The last PFL card is the last chance for heavyweights and light heavyweights to earn points for the playoffs in PFL’s regular season-playoff format. PFL 6 takes place on August 8th at Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The undercard will be aired on ESPN+ and the main card on ESPN 2.
