Virna Jandiroba gets quick submission win over Felice Herrig

The trilogy is here.

UFC 252 takes place inside the UFC Apex tonight, Saturday, Aug. 15. Current heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic and former two-weight champion Daniel Cormier settle the score in the main event.

Rising star Sean O’Malley puts his perfect record to the test against fellow bantamweight Marlon Vera in the night’s co-main event.

One preliminary bout to keep an eye is a strawweight fight between Felice Herrig and Virna Jandiroba.

Herrig (14-8) will be fighting for the first time since October of 2018 when she lost to Michelle Waterson. She has been sidelined after tearing her ACL. Despite being out with the injury, Herrig is still ranked according to the official UFC rankings. She’ll enter the octagon tonight as the No. 15 ranked strawweight in the world.

Virna Jandiroba (15-1) is a former Invicta FC strawweight champion and came into the UFC last April. After being unbeaten prior to joining the UFC, Jandiroba is 1-1 in the UFC. She lost her debut against former UFC champ Carla Esparza, but then rebounded to defeat Mallory Martin in December. This will be her first fight of 2020.

Here’s how their fight went down with a round-by-round breakdown and scoring. For a full list of results, you can click here.

Round 1

Janiroba wasted no time going in for a takedown and it lands right away and she has over four minutes and a half minutes to work.

One minute later Jandiroba is in a position to really start doing some damage and moments later she does.

Jandiroba gets ahold of Herrig’s arm and gets an armbar submission win in under two minutes.

Official result: Virna Jandiroba defeats Felice Herrig via first-round submission by armbar (1:44)

*The win was the fourth fastest submission in UFC strawweight history.
