Austin Tweedy injured, Justin Jaynes now faces James Warfield at Warrior Wednesday III
Due to an abdominal injury to Austin Tweedy, the lightweight unification bout between Tweedy and Justin Jaynes will not take place in the main event of Warrior Wednesday III. Instead, Jaynes will now fight James Warfield (23-13) on May 29th. Due to the short notice nature of the fight, it will be contested at a catch-weight of 165 lbs. The bout will serve as the co-main event of the evening and will also be a three round affair. Now serving as the main event will be the 170 bout between Bobby Nash and Mark Stoddard.
James Warfield has been fighting professionally since 2003 and has fought all over the US but will finally make his way into the WXC steel. The longtime MMA veteran is still fighting strong at 41 years old having just fought last month. Warfield has fought a lot of tough guys over the years so fighting someone the caliber of Jaynes will be nothing new to the Chicago based fighter. He looks to take out the home state fighter in Jaynes come May 29th.
Justin Jaynes won the first bout of the four man 155 tournament at WXC 75 in February of this year. In that bout he knocked out Brandon Noble in the very first round. Both of Justin’s fights in WXC have ended in the first round. Jaynes has been spectacular for WXC and looks to continue that on Warrior Wednesday. In his 14 pro wins, 12 have been finishes with six submissions and knockouts a piece.
