Watch: Arman Tsarukyan knocks Beneil Dariush out in 64 seconds of UFC Austin main event
The Ultimate Fighting Championship returned to us tonight, December 2, 2023, for UFC Austin, going down live from the Moody Center in Austin, Texas.
Headlining the event was a lightweight affair between a pair of top contenders in no. 4 ranked Beneil Dariush (22-6-1) and no. 8 ranked Arman Tsarukyan (21-3).
Dariush, following a seven-fight win streak from 2018 to 2022, came into tonight’s main event off a loss to former lightweight champion Charles Oliveira earlier this year in June, while Tsarukyan on the other hand came in on a two-fight win streak following a razor-thin decision defeat to Mateusz Gamrot back in June of last year.

Official Result: Arman Tsarukyan def. Beneil Dariush via KO (punches) at 1:04 of round one
Dariush opens up the bout with a pair of kicks, one going to the head and the other to the lead leg of Tsarukyan.
About one minute into the opening round Tsarukyan throws a right hand, grabs a momentary clinch to land a knee up the middle, before immediately following it up with another right hand that drops Dariush.
Tsarukyan follows up with some vicious ground strikes to secure the early knockout finish, and likely the no. 4 spot in the rankings. At 27 years of age, it’s incredible how good this young man is.

Making his UFC debut with a record of 13-1 at age 22, Tsarukyan would lose a unanimous decision to current lightweight champion Islam Makhachev; a fight he secured a takedown in, and a fight he won one round of.
Tsarukyan would go on to win five-straight before losing a disputed five-round decision to no. 6 ranked Mateusz Gamrot, this victory over Dariush being his third-straight win since then. Four of his last five wins also come via knockout, and as someone who was once criticized for not finishing fights, that’s a great improvement to see out of him.
