William Knight vs. Aleksa Camur slated for UFC 253

William Knight vs. Aleksa Camur added to UFC 253 on September 26.

Dana White’s Contender Series vet William Knight will get to make a quick turnaround to fight at UFC 253, as he will see himself square off against Aleksa Camur on the prelims.

UFC announced the bout during the UFC Fight Night 176 broadcast on Saturday night. UFC 253 takes place on Sept. 26 on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi and is headlined by a middleweight title bout between Israel Adesanya and Paulo Costa.

Knight earned a UFC deal with a first-round TKO of Cody Brundage on the Contender Series on Sept. 1. The 32-year-old is 8-1 as a professional, with all of his victories coming via knockout or technical knockout. This is a second contact Knight has been given by the UFC, when Knight earned a developmental deal after a third-round finish over the then unbeaten Herdem Alacabek on Season 3, Episode 8 of Dana White’s Contender Series. While UFC President Dana White was not ready to give “Nightmare” a full contract, he was interested in the 31-year-old from Connecticut. With five wins since he made his pro debut in May 2018, all five have come by knockout. This opportunity grants Knight a chance to fight in front of a home crowd again, as he previously competed at CES 54 in January, forcing Kevin Haley to tap to strikes.

Camur is also a Contender Series alum and will now have his second official fight in the Octagon. In his debut, he earned Justin Ledet by unanimous decision at UFC 246 . Before that, he knocked out Fabio Cherant in the third season of the Contender Series. Aleksa stands out for his power, with 5 of 6 victories via KO/TKO. The expectations surrounding Camur are definitely high not only because he’s one of Miocic’s main training partners but also because the light heavyweight division sorely needs a youthful injection.
