WSOF 22 Media Call Highlights – Shields says Palhares is a bad person

The World Series of Fighting hosts their 22nd event next Saturday, August 1, at The Axis at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino, with stacked main card of fights and topped with Rousimar Palhares defending his welterweight title against Jake Shields.

This afternoon the WSOF held a media call in which MyMMANews was on the line, to capture some of the raw emotion from the fighters going into their contests.

Shields didn’t pull any punches letting the public know how he felt about Rousimar Palhares in the opening question of the media conference call by stating “Palhares is a guy I don’t really care for. So he’s here, and he’s a dirty guy that likes hurting people, he doesn’t let go. He plays a nice guy once he breaks someones leg and doesn’t lets go. I think he’s just a bad person.”

Palhares didn’t seem to flinch much to Shield’s allegations and shrugged them off for the most part at one point giggling and stating, “He’s good, but I’m better and he’ll find out.” It was Palhares’ translator that seemed to take to his fighters defense on multiple occasions as the media flocked to ask Shields about Palhares’ leg lock submissions, and holding on for too long after a tap.

Explosive knockout artists, Thiago Silva will take on Mike Kyle who talked directly to MyMMANews.com reporter Adam Crist discussing their contest with Silva saying “It’s going to be a war man. I’m ready to fight anywhere, you know? I’m ready to fight on the ground on the floor. I’m willing to stand up with him. I really don’t care. I’m here to do my best. To do the job, and get the job. So that’s what I’m going to do.

Mike Kyle followed by saying “That’s a great answer. Like you said, we’re both professionals. Of course we’re both stand up fighters but we’re well rounded. You can look to see either one of us, don’t be surprised if we get a take down or if we have to change up our game plan, we’re both able to do so. We’ve both been fighting a long time, we have a lot of experience, we’re ready for war. We’re going to fight!

Silva followed by saying “Yeah, it’s going to be a war.”

Upon asking either fighter what their predictions were for the contest Silva says, “I like to stand up and I like to knockout. You know? I’m ready to fight. You know? That’s what I’m looking for but like I said, it’s going to be a war. You got to use your weapons, you know? I’m going to use mine.”

Kyle abruptly followed with “Take down! Submission!” with Silva immediately saying “Let’s do it!”

WSOF Vice President Ali Abdel-Aziz followed their comments stating “When I put this fight together, Mike Kyle and Thiago, you know…There’s no way in hell this fight is going to start slowly. This first and second round, someone is going in the middle. They’re going to start swinging. This is what they do. This is the peoples main event. I see these two guys, they like to fight. They’re going to stand in the middle and they’re going to swing and someone is going to go down.”

The media call was nothing short than action packed with a lot of back and forth hyping this World Series of Fighting event, August 1 at The Axis at The Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino with Welterweight champion Rousimar Palhares defending his belt against Jake Shields. Marlon Moraes making his second title defense against undefeated Sheymon Moraes. As well as knockout artists Thiago Silva taking on Mike Kyle in a light heavyweight showdown.
