Yoel Romero – Jacare Souza 2 to Headline UFC Fort Lauderdale

The main event for the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s April 27 fight card in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has been announced and will be a middleweight rematch.

First reported by ESPN, for the second time Cuban Yoel Romero will lock horns with Brazilian Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza. Their first meeting at UFC 194, saw Romero take a narrow split decision victory.

“Soldier of God” Romero is a 41-year-old physical freak of natural. The former Olympic wrestler has eleven finishes all knockouts. Romero is two up and two down in his last four fights. The victories have been crushing knockouts of former champions Chris Weidman and Luke Rockhold, while the losses have been close decisions against current middleweight champion Robert Whittaker.

Souza, a former Strikeforce champion, has one of the slickest submission games in the UFC’s middleweight division. The Brazilian has 22 finishes, 14 by submission and eight knockouts. In his two most recent win over Derek Brunson and Chris Weidman, “Jacare” has showcased his heavy strikes, picking up both wins by knockout.
