Yoel Romero out of UFC on ESPN 15 bout with Uriah Hall
Yoel Romero is reportedly out of his UFC on ESPN 15 bout with Uriah Hall on Aug. 22.
First reported by BJPenn.com, Romero’s exit is for an undisclosed reason. The event is still set to take place at UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Yoel Romero is coming off three-straight losses, most recently dropping a unanimous decision to champion Israel Adesanya at UFC 248 this past March. He previously lost another unanimous decision to the upcoming title challenger, Paulo Costa at UFC 241 in August 2019.
At UFC 225 in July 2018, Romero suffered split-decision defeat in a rematch with then-champion Robert Whittaker. His last victory came over two years ago, a third-round knockout against Luke Rockhold at UFC 221 in February 2018.
Hall is a winner of three of his last four octagon appearances. He recently put together back-to-back victories against Antonio Carlos Junior and Bevon Lewis.
He suffered a second-round TKO loss to Costa at UFC 226 in July 2018. It came after a second-round TKO over his own against Krzysztof Jotko at UFC Fight Night 116 back in 2017.
Hall was set to face Ronaldo Souza at UFC 249 on May 9, but the bout fell through after Souza tested positive for COVID-19.
