MMA Platinum Gloves Presents Live MMA On Long Island

St. James- Live MMA on Long Island presented by MMA Platinum Gloves occurred for the fifth time on June 28. Ten exciting amateur bouts entertained the 700 plus roaring fans from the local area. The Sports Arena in St. James filled up quickly delivering an exciting atmosphere for the amateur Long Island fights. The heavyweight fight between Dan Diaz and Isaiah Rosado delivered the fight of the night. LaRon McCravey also showed up producing a dominating performance.

At The Sports Arena there was no lack of finishes Saturday night as all ten bouts came to a conclusion with a finish. The first fight began with heavy fist by Henry Mills of Vamos BJJ, as he dropped thunder down on his opponent Saverio Cianciotta fighting out of Kioto BJJ, in their amateur debuts. Mills finished the fight in impressive fashion earning a TKO victory at forty one seconds of the first round of their catchweight match at 195-pounds.

In the second bout of the evening, one of the most talented fighters to enter the cage Saturday night was LaRon McCravey, whom displayed a performance of pure domination. McCravey’s skills striking and grappling made him a difficult opponent for Zack Rosado of Team 12k4. The Bellmore Kickboxing fighter, McCravey, earns a victory in his debut fight via TKO in the third round at 1:36. His opponent Rosado show tremendous heart inside the cage, being able to reach the third round, after being continually taken down and punished.

In the seventh fight of the night, Rich Appenzeller of East West MMA displayed the strength of wrestling inside the cage. After being hacked on by heavy kicks from Robert Rodriguez of World Gym, Appenzeller drove through Rodriguez bringing him to the canvas. The East West fighter displayed his wrestling ability when walking to the cage wearing a J Robinson T-shirt. A shirt only handed out upon the completion of J Robinson’s intensive wrestling camp. After earning a powerful takedown, Appenzeller mounted his foe and delivered aggressive ground and pound that earned him the TKO in round one at fifty four seconds.

The Fight Of The Night honors went to the heavyweight fighters in the second to last bout of the evening. Isaiah Rosado and Dan Diaz only went twenty eight seconds into the second round, but the first three minutes and twenty eight seconds were filled with action that had the fans out of their seats. Rosado fights with Team 12K4 and Diaz fights out of Cordella Academy. The first round was filled with blows being exchanged and grappling on the ground that had plenty of ground and pound by both fighters. In the second round, Diaz earned the TKO victory after blast Rosado with a powerful fist that sent the Team 12K4 fighter to the canvas.

“Great action, these guys put their heart and souls into it and train six days a week for it.” President of MMA Platinum Gloves Nicolas Canobbio said. “You can’t ask for anything more, just showing up takes guts,” A very pleased Canobbio mentioned. Pulling double duty as President and matchmaker, Nick Canobbio plans to continue five to six shows a year. Their next event will take place September 6, 2014.
