UFC and FOX Sports cut ties with Chael Sonnen

The UFC and FOX Sports organizations announced today the termination of their respective broadcasting services agreements with analyst Chael Sonnen. This decision comes in light of Sonnen failing a second test conducted by the Nevada Athletic Commission for banned substances in June. Sonnen was previously under temporary suspension by the Nevada Athletic Commission for failing an initial test conducted in May.

While Sonnen may have been one of the organization’s biggest stars and pay-per-view draws he did announce his retirement earlier in the month after the results of the first failed test were published.  After failing the second it was almost inevitable that both the UFC and FOX would have to release the star even if he were retired from the sport and did admit fault.  There is a zero tolerance policy regardless of who you are including the American Gangster.
