Adriano Moraes talks American Top Team training ahead of ONE: X title defense

Adriano Moraes was the first fight to capture ONE Championship‘s flyweight title, and now coming off the most important title defense of his career, the 32-year-old fighter is set for his latest challenge next week.

“Mikinho” Moraes silenced critics when he defeated former UFC flyweight champion and arguably the greatest 125-pounder to ever compete in Demetrious Johnson at ONE on TNT 1 in April 2021.

Next up for Moraes is 27-year-old Japanese fighter Yuya Wakamatsu at ONE: X on March 26.

Moraes spoke with ONE Championship officials about his training camp conducted at American Top Team in Coconut Creek, Florida.

“I’m training at ATT, where I did my last camps,” the champ said. “I’m focusing a lot on my boxing and Muay Thai, but without leaving jiu-jitsu aside. I train a lot of jiu-jitsu here with Marcus Buchecha, Gezary Matuda (three-time World Champion), master Marcos Parrumpinha, among other top fighters. In wrestling, I’m training a lot with Steve Mocco, doing MMA under Mike Brown’s guidance, boxing with Gabriel and Ivan de Oliveira, and Muay Thai with Katel Kubis.

“The training sessions at American Top Team are great,” Moraes continued. “The group here is very united. There are many tough athletes here, and we help each other. There are several athletes with scheduled fights, so the training is very strong. I hope to be able to put on a great show on March 26th.”
