Alexa Grasso confident she finishes Valentina Shevchenko in rematch at Noche UFC

UFC women’s flyweight champion Alexa Grasso is confident that she will finish Valentina Shevchenko in their rematch at Noche UFC.

In one of the biggest upsets of 2023, Grasso finished Shevchenko in the fourth round via rear-naked choke submission in the co-main event of UFC 285. It was an incredible performance by Grasso, who was a massive underdog heading into this bout. But just based on the fact that Shevchenko is such a legend of the sport and a dominant champion, she gets an immediate rematch, and the two of these women will meet in the main event of Noche UFC in September.

Speaking to MMAjunkie.com ahead of the rematch, where Grasso is once again the underdog, the Mexican fighter suggested that she will not only beat Shevchenko again but finish her again.

“Every single fight is different. You always have a plan in your mind and you never know how your opponent is going to respond, but one thing I can tell you is I’m going to finish the fight. I touched her in the first round, I was super close to do a knockout, but it didn’t happen. But, I was super close so, this won’t be different. I’m going to finish the fight no matter (where it goes). I’m going to submit her or it’s going to be a knockout,” Grasso said.

What was so surprising about Grasso’s submission win is the fact that out of eight UFC victories for her, only two of them have come by finish, so the fact she was able to tap out the long-time champion Shevchenko was extremely impressive. That being said, while she is the champ, Grasso is still the underdog on paper just due to all of Shevchenko’s previous accomplishments.

Do you think Alexa Grasso will defeat Valentina Shevchenko in their rematch at Noche UFC?
