Alexander Volkov set to return at UFC 267 against Marcin Tybura
A battle of top-10 heavyweights has been added to UFC 267 in Abu Dhabi.
According to MMAFighting, Alexander Volkov is set to fight Marcin Tybura at UFC 267 on October 30. The card will be a free card in North American despite being numbered and the hope is, the event will air on ABC. UFC 267 will be headlined by a light heavyweight title fight between Jan Blachowicz and Glover Teixeira. Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan will also have their rematch for the bantamweight strap on the card as well.
Alexander Volkov (33-9) is currently ranked fifth at heavyweight. The former Bellator and M-1 Global heavyweight champion is coming off a decision loss to Ciryl Gane back in June. Prior to that, he recorded back-to-back TKO win over Alistair Overeem and Walt Harris at UFC 254 which took place in Abu Dhabi. In his career, the Russian holds notable wins over Fabricio Werdum, Blagoy Ivanov, Tim Johnson, and Roy Nelson among others.
Marcin Tybura (22-6) had an incredible 2020 as he went 4-0 and built off of that this year with a TKO win over Walt Harris last time out to extend his winning streak to five. During this run, the Pole beat Greg Hardy by TKO, and then picked up decision wins over Ben Rothwell, Maxim Grishin, and Sergey Spivak. The victories over Rothwell and Grishin were in Abu Dhabi on Fight Island as well. The current eighth-ranked heavyweight holds notable wins over Andrei Arlovski and Stefan Struve among others.
