Amanda Nunes tells Claressa Shields if they fight: ‘I’m gonna wrestle the s*it out of you’

Amanda Nunes believes a fight between her and Claressa Shields would not be a close one.

The UFC’s bantamweight and featherweight champion says Shields saw what would happen to her at UFC 245. That is Nunes taking her down at will and ground and pounding her.

“She saw tonight,” Nunes said at the post-fight press conference (via MMA Fighting). “I don’t think she’s going to want anything to do with this. If she wants to see me, come to my world. I’m gonna be here,” Nunes continued. “I’m an MMA fighter. She wants to see me, I’m gonna wrestle the s*it out of you and finish you with a jiu-jitsu submission. I want to see how she’s gonna feel.”

Shields has said there is about an 80 percent chance her next fight will be against Amanda Nunes. The hope is they will do one fight in MMA and one in boxing. But, Nunes is not interested in that. Instead, she wants to focus on MMA and if Shields wants to come over it will not be a pleasant fight for her.

“I’m an MMA fighter, why she want to take me from my sport?” Nunes asked. “If she wants to fight me, come to my world. It doesn’t make any sense. I respect her as a boxer. But, I’m an MMA fighter. I don’t like to fight [in boxing]. I like MMA, I like what I did today. If she can handle that for five rounds, come see me.”

“Six months to learn how to defend a takedown? Germaine, six years, she didn’t even learn how to defend a takedown,” Nunes added. “You guys saw tonight. Don’t even listen to this girl, guys.”

In the end, Amanda Nunes does not have a clear cut contender at either weight class so the Claressa Shields fight may indeed happen next.
