Anderson Silva pleads Dana White to book Conor McGregor super fight
Anderson Silva has a tough task this weekend taking on Jared Cannonier, but the legend of the sport is already eyeing his next opponent. And, that opponent just so happens to be arguably the biggest name in the UFC in Conor McGregor.
Speaking to TMZ recently, Silva explained why he wants that fight and why UFC President Dana White should book the fight.
“I believe this fight is very interesting for the sport, for the fans,” Silva stated. “But that’s a good question for Dana White, because Conor accepted the challenge, I accepted the challenge, we’re just waiting for the opportunity. Let’s go see.
“Come on boss,” Anderson Silva added, sending a message to White. “Give the show for the fans, give this show for the big fans of the UFC. Two big guys, two big names, you know? It’s good money for you Dana, and a good challenge for me and Conor. I believe I could cut my weight [to 180], I believe McGregor to get [his] weight to 180. I believe it’s a good fight for me and Conor. That’s a good experience for the fans, especially the fans of this sport. That’s a super, super, super fight. Anderson Silva and Conor McGregor.”
Although McGregor ‘retired’ from MMA, many still believe he wants to come back. And, if he does indeed come back Silva wants to fight him. The Brazilian realizes they are both big names in the sport and thinks McGregor could fight at 180 pounds if he so chooses to. However, rumors continue to swirl that McGregor will indeed come back but most likely fight a top contender at lightweight, like Donald Cerrone, where a win would get him another title shot.
But, if all he cares about is super fights and money, a fight against the middleweight GOAT in Anderson Silva makes sense, as well.
