Andrei Arlovski set to return on Fight Night card in October against Carlos Felipe

Andrei Arlovski will return in October as he looks to extend his winning streak to two.

The former UFC heavyweight champion will return on a Fight Night card on October 16 against Carlos Felipe. The Brazilian revealed the news during an interview with Canal Encarada. The location of the card is TBD, the main event of the card has also not been announced.

Andrei Arlovski (31-20) has had a career resurgence as of late as he’s 3-1 in his last four. Last time out, Arlovski got back into the win column with a hard-fought decision over Chase Sherman after losing by submission to Tom Aspinall back in February. Prior to the setback to Aspinall, the former champ had back-to-back decision wins over Tanner Boser and Philipe Lins. Many had written off Arlovski after he had a rough 1-4 and one No Contest – that was originally a decision loss to Walt Harris – stretch from 2018 to 2019. During that time, he suffered losses to Tai Tuivasa, Shamil Abdurakhimov, Augusto Sakai, and Jairzinho Rozenstruik with his lone win coming against Ben Rothwell. In his career, he holds notable wins over Frank Mir, Antonio Silva, Travis Browne, Fabricio Werdum, Roy Nelson, and Tim Sylvia.

Carlos Felipe (11-1) is riding a three-fight winning streak after losing his UFC debut by majority decision to Sergey Spivak back in July of 2020. After that, he earned decision wins over Yorgan De Castro, Justin Tafa, and Jake Collier. The Brazilian has been active as he had four UFC fights within an 11-month span.

It’s an intriguing matchup between Arlovski and Felipe and is a fight the Brazilian called for after his last win.

I have a request for the matchmakers: Put me with Andrei Arlovski. This is the fight to make,” Felipe said after his UFC 263 win. “I have all the respect for Andrei Arlovski, but I think his time has already passed. This is my time. It’s time for the new generation. All my respect to him, but I think this fight makes sense.

“September, October – it could be next month, too,” Felipe added. “But September or October would be OK. I saw that he had a hand surgery, so September or October would be perfect for both of us. Arlovski, all my respect to you, but let’s make this fight happen. Let’s make a brawl.”
