Andy Ruiz Jr. Now Set to face Luis Ortiz
Just last week, Triller Fight Club announced that former WBO, IBF, IBO, and WBA champion Andy Ruiz Jr. was set to face Tyrone Spong in Mexico.
That bout has since been called off given that Ruiz Jr. is still under contract with PBC. Mike Coppinger of ESPN reported that Ruiz Jr. had previously signed a contract with PBC to face Luis Ortiz in late summer, prior to signing the Spong bout agreement.
Also, just last month, Ruiz Jr. hinted at the potential matchup with Ortiz when he posted the question “how many of my fans would like to see this fight happen?” on Twitter.

Now, due to fight out his PBC contract, Ruiz Jr. will clash with top ten heavyweight and former interim WBA heavyweight champion Ortiz in the summer.
The first Mexican-born heavyweight champion most notably became an instant fan favorite following his massive upset win over former unified champion Anthony Joshua back in 2019.

Come summer, Andy Ruiz Jr. (34-2-0, 22 KOs) will walk into the ring off of a win that came over Chris Arreola in 2021.
Ortiz (33-2-0 with 28 KOs) on the other hand, will walk into the ring coming off two consecutive knockouts over Alexander Flores and Charles Martin.
