Andy Ruiz Jr. to face Tyrone Spong in Mexico

Triller Fight Club has announced a massive heavyweight showdown for their Mexico pay-per-view event.

In the main event, former WBO, IBF, IBO, and WBA champion Andy Ruiz Jr. will take on kickboxing, MMA, and boxing sensation Tyrone Spong.

Ruiz Jr., the first-ever heavyweight boxing champion of Mexican descent took the world by storm back in 2019. Going into a unified heavyweight title bout against then-champion Anthony Joshua, Ruiz Jr. was not only a massive underdog but was being greatly overlooked. As the bout progressed, Ruiz Jr. knocked the former champion down four times, ultimately defeating Joshua by TKO in the seventh round.

After winning the WBO, IBF, IBO, and WBA straps, Ruiz Jr. would go on to lose them to Joshua in their rematch six months later.

In his most recent walk to the ring, Ruiz Jr. (34-2-0, 22 KOs) defeated Chris Arreola via unanimous decision in 2021.

The former unified champion will be matched with former Glory kickboxing champion Tyrone Spong. As a professional, Spong has spent time in multiple combat sports. As a mixed martial artist, he holds a record of 4-1-0 and in the discipline of kickboxing, he has gone 107-7-1.

As a boxer, Sprong is undefeated with a record of 14-0 with 13 KOs.

Now at 36-years-old, Spong will look to shock the world against the Mexican boxing sensation.
