In just a matter of days, CFFC’s welterweight champion, Bassil Hafez is set to defend his title for the first time since capturing it last November with an impressive win over Christian Savoie. This Thursday, April 1, Hafez is scheduled to take on Evan “The Butcher” Cutts in the main event of CFFC 94.

“When I see Evan Cutts, I see another test,” Hafez says about his upcoming opponent. “I see another guy I’m going to try to finish,” he says with authority. “Evan is a good, tough fighter,” He continues. “I feel that if it goes to the ground, I can submit him and I can ground and pound and I can finish him,” Hafez emphasizes. “And if it’s on the feet, I feel like I’m going to hit him with punches and he won’t be able to take my power. I know I have power,” Hafez scrupulously reiterates.

Since winning the title, the welterweight standout has continued to evolve by transitioning his training to Factory X in the high altitude of Colorado. During his minimal time with his new outfit, Hafez seems to have found a similar home to his previous one.

“Once I came out to Factory X, I vibed right away,” Hafez professes. “It’s a great gym. Great training partners. Beasts,” he says. “And coach Montoya is a genius when it comes to striking! (He) “Reminds me a lot of my coach Andy Russel in Philly,” Hafez says about the crossover correlations. “I like Marc’s (Montoya) style a lot! I like how he emphasizes the technical points and the parts that help me improve. And it’s different for every guy,” Hafez points out.

With another camp winding down for the CFFC welterweight champion, Hafez lays it all on the line as readies himself to step into the cage, once again with a finish on his mind

“I will be the first one to finish him,” Hafez insists.
