Belal Muhammad: “Colby’s not fighting any tough fighters”
Belal Muhammad had some words for Colby Covington yesterday at the UFC ESPN 34 media day.
In the interview, Muhammad states “I mean when I look at the division, I’m looking at Colby like, Colby’s not fighting any tough fighters.”
“He’s fighting Masvidal after two losses, he’s fighting Woodley off of like three losses, so like I think he’s trying to pick and choose his way back to the title shot.”
He continues, “Calling out a fifty-fiver in Dustin Poirier, you know and then try to talk his way to another title shot. He hasn’t beat no top five, real legitimate guys that are coming off of wins.”
Muhammad speaks more on Covington telling media that Covington is someone “that thinks that he’s owed something, he thinks that he is a pay-per-view star.”
“Keep playing that injury game. Now that his tooth is chipped, he’s probably gonna be out for a couple of years until they give him a real fifty-fiver to fight,” says Muhammad.

Muhammad’s comments on Covington come ahead of Muhammad’s (20-3-0, 1 NC) main-event bout against Vicente Luque (21-7-1) this Saturday.
Muhammad is ranked at six in the welterweight division and is currently riding a six-fight win streak while his opponent, Luque, is riding a four-fight win streak and is ranked just above Muhammad at fifth in the division.
Come Saturday, whoever walks out of the octagon with the victory will likely enter title contention or at least be in the title conversation.
UFC Fight Night: Luque vs. Muhammad 2 takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 16th.
