Ange Loosa to face Mounir Lazzez on five days notice

Despite not being able to secure a UFC contract last year, Ange Loosa will now get his shot on the big stage this Saturday.

Originally slated to take on Mounir Lazzez this weekend was Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos. However, Ryan Frederick of the Wrestling Observer reported today that he was forced to withdraw from the bout for undisclosed personal reasons.

The UFC was quick to call Loosa, who gladly took the opportunity to face Lazzez on just five days’ notice at this Saturday’s UFC Fight Night: Luque vs. Muhammad 2.

Loosa (8-2-0) had his first opportunity to make it to the big stage last year on Dana Whites Contender Series. Unfortunately, he suffered a unanimous decision loss to Jack Della Maddalena and was not offered a UFC contract. Since then, he went on to defeat former UFC welterweight contender John Howard at XMMA 4 just 10 days ago.

Come Saturday, Loosa will be matched with Lazzez (10-2-0).

“The Sniper” Lazzez joined the UFC back in 2020 and has gone 1-1 with the promotion. In his promotional debut, he defeated Abdul Razak Alhassan by way of a unanimous decision. In his most recent outing, the Tunisian-born welterweight suffered a TKO loss to Warlley Alves at UFC Fight Night: Chiesa vs. Magny.

The night of fights takes place on April 16th at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, and will feature the following:
