Bellator 258’s Josh Hill on bantamweight darkhorses and podcasting

Bellator 258 takes place on Friday, May 7th. The event emanates from Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, and broadcasts on Showtime. A virtual media session was held earlier on by Bellator MMA today and I was able to speak with several fighters. Bellator 258’s Josh Hill talked with me and the excerpt from our interaction can be found below.

Bellator 258’s Josh Hill

Just wanted to first start off by talking about something coming off of me speaking to Raufeon Stots. He was very complimentary of your acumen as a fighter and also said you guys are pretty stylistically similar. But also among the dark horses of the division. I’m kind of curious your feelings on that characterization?

“It’s funny because I’ve actually said the exact same thing in other interviews. Yeah, I said he’s a good fighter, he’s well-rounded. So I have respect for his resume and his skill set. I think we are very similar. As far as skillset and attributes, we’re both athletic. Good wrestling and good striking, very explosive. Yeah, we are the dark horses in this division. I think this is kind of the fight. We’re both at the top there within the top 10. And I think winner should definitely be in line for a title shot.”

Yeah, and when I spoke to Raufeon that was part of my show Bowkes Talking Bouts. Which is on that MMA Power Hour Podcast Network and I’m also noticing you’re part of that too with Jason and The Gentleman. I’m kind of wondering like how the experience has been in the podcasting world. Overall?

“It’s cool, man. It’s just two guys shooting the shit about both fighting, basically. So yeah it’s something that we just kind of did for fun. Just as a hobby to stay interactive in the MMA world but yeah it’s cool. We do commentary together so it just kind of builds off that. It helps us in our commentary as well. When we actually get back to it. So that’s kind of the main reason we did but yeah, I’m enjoying.”
