Ben Askren mauls Shinya Aoki in final fight – ONE Championship: Immortal Pursuit results

ONE Championship welterweight champion Ben Askren has done it again. Askren defeated Shinya Aoki in what is to be his final professional mixed martial arts bout. The undefeated Askren (18-0-1) finished the former lightweight champion in under one minute at Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore.

Having never signed with the UFC and being at odds with the organization’s president, Dana White, Askren never had the opportunity to test his skills against top welterweights, leading him towards retirement.

“I think this is it. If I get the opportunity to prove I’m number one, then I’ll take the opportunity. I don’t need any more money. I just want to show the fans that I’m the best welterweight in the world. Other than that, I’m out.”
