'Bigfoot' Antonio Silva signs to fight in Russia against undefeated opponent, Bigfoot Silva

Bigfoot Silva set to headline Gamebred FC 2 opposite Alex Nicholson, Jorge Masvidal reveals

Bigfoot Silva will be turning to bare-knuckle MMA and will be facing a fellow UFC veteran.

Jorge Masvidal revealed his promotion’s second main event will be Silva vs. Alex Nicholson at Gamebred FC 2 on September 11 in Biloxi, Mississippi. Masvidal revealed the news on MMAFighting’s MMA Hour on Wednesday.

Bigfoot Silva (19-13 and one No Contest in MMA) last competed in MMA back in June of this year where he suffered a brutal second-round TKO loss to Quentin Domingos in Serbia. Prior to that, he competed in BKFC where he suffered a KO loss to Gabriel Gonzaga in October of 2019 at BKFC 18. Including his loss to in BKFC and Glory Kickboxing, Silva is on an eight-fight losing skid with seven of those by KO/TKO. The 41-year-olds last win was over Sao Palelei at UFC 190 in 2015. During his skid, he suffered knockout losses to Mark Hunt, Stefan Struve, Roy Nelson, Vitaly Minakov, and Rico Verhoeven in kickboxing.

Alex Nicholson (14-9 in MMA) last fought in October of 2019 as he dropped a decision to Francimar Barroso in PFL. The 31-year-old was suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for four years due to testing positive for three steroids in December of 2019. In his career, Nicholson has competed for promotions like the UFC, PFL, and LFA. Nicholson went 1-3 in the UFC with his lone win over Devin Clark and lost to Sam Alvey, Jack Hermansson, and Misha Cirkunov.

Jorge Masvidal held his first Gamebred FC event back on June 18 at the Biloxi Community Center, where Silva will take on Nicholson on September 11. In the main event of that card, UFC veteran Jason Knight took on Charles Bennett where Knight won by first-round submission. UFC veteran, Brok Weaver also was on the card and beat Cliff Wright by TKO in the second round. The card ended up being a massive success for Masvidal.
