Billy Goff discusses his first career UFC win at UFC Singapore
Billy Goff couldn’t of started his UFC career off any better.
At UFC Singapore, Goff finally made his first walk to the octagon when he took on Yusaku Kinoshita.
Goff had to be tough in the fight as while he was having success with his leg kicks, Kinoshita was able to counter off the kicks and looked to have a slight advantage of the feet.
As the two men battled throughout the first round, it was in the final minute of the opening round where Goff showcased his power.
Kinoshita had his back towards the cage and Goff rolled his shoulder and landed a big, long, straight punch to Kinoshita’s body and as soon as the punch landed, Kinoshita immediately fell to the canvas.
Goff would go to follow up with some ground-and-pound, but the referee wouldn’t let him get any off as he waved the fight off and Goff would begin to celebrate his first UFC win.
The moment is one that Goff will never forget and the victory may have been a little extra sweet because of what Goff had to overcome.
After two knee surgeries, Goff had to rehab and work his way back and while he was sidelined from the sport for a year, he kept on grinding knowing that this day would come.
While he was away, he made great work of the UFC Performance Institute as he began working with a mental coach, who has helped Goff keep his mind sharpe.
The mental strength was definitely on full display and following the fight, Goff was filled with emotions as he dedicated the fight to his teammate, who lost his sister before Goff’s fight.
Following his UFC debut, Goff spoke with MyMMANews about his first career win at UFC Singapore, his time away from the sport, working with a mental coach and his love for his team.
