Gracie 717 fighter Blaine Shutt lands role in Fight Valley

Blaine Shutt explains road from underdog to CES champion (VIDEO)

In the first of three title fights, Blaine Shutt disappointed the New England crowd at CES 60 when he defeated Johnny Lopez to become the organization’s first ever flyweight champion. Shutt picked up a split decision victory over Lopez in a technical chess match at Twin River Casino in Lincoln, RI.

Following the historical win, Shutt spoke with members of the media, including MyMMANews.com, to discuss the fight, feeling like he may have lost when the judges’ scorecards were being read, being a consistent underdog throughout his fighting career, contemplating retirement from fighting, being a single parent, why his loss to Sean Santella made him believe like he can compete with the best 125 pounders in the world, his crafty submission attempts, where he goes from Friday night’s win and much more.

Check out the full conversation with the inaugural CES flyweight champion Blaine Shutt in the video above.
