Brady Hiestand discusses his first career UFC win
Brady Hiestand has been around the UFC, but at UFC Vegas 65, it was officially his UFC debut.
Prior to being on the UFC roster, Hiestand competed on the UFC’s hit television show The Ultimate Fighter.
On the show, Hiestand got to experience what it was like to fight inside of the UFC Apex in Las Vegas and he also had the experience of fighting on a UFC card.
The Ultimate Fighter helped Hiestand understand what the UFC was all about and how the company operates, which helped calm some nerves for him in the lead up to UFC Vegas 65.
Finally at UFC Vegas 65, it would mark the official octagon debut for Hiestand and made the best of his opportunity.
In the opening of his fight against Fernie Garcia, Hiestand got dropped in the early seconds of the fight, but would manage to get the fight to the canvas and control the opening round.
From there, Hiestand continued to work in the takedowns, including one in the third and final round in which he was able to smother Garcia on way to a unanimous decision win.
Following his victory, Hiestand spoke with MyMMANews to discuss his first career win, his plans for 2023 and being a volunteer firefighter.
You can watch his full interview in the video above.
