Brandon Moreno, Askar Askarov plead their case to earn title shot against Deiveson Figueiredo

The flyweight division has a new champion in Deiveson Figueiredo and now, the top flyweight contenders are calling for their shot.

Following Figueiredo’s dominant submission win over Joseph Benavidez to win the vacant flyweight title, many wondered what would be next. The flyweight division has a bevy of top contenders like Brandon Moreno, Askar Askarov, and Alex Perez who all deserve their shot. And, Moreno and Askarov have taken to social media to call for their shots.

“We don’t need more war in this world, we need love and I have lots of love to give [Deiveson Figueiredo],” he wrote on social media.

The champ then saw the message and issued a response in the comments, seemingly agreeing to the fight.

“You will have love in the first right, be prepared to fight with me in November,” the champ responded.

Although Moreno and Figureido seemingly agreed to a fight in November, Askar Askarov also took his shot to call out the champ to fight him following his win over Alexandre Pantoja.

“hey Figueiredo, leave alone the one who has already retired let him rest, he has already proved his, come on take a fight with me and I promise you that I will leave you without a belt,” Askarov wrote on Twitter.

Brandon Moreno is currently on a two-fight winning streak and is unbeaten since returning to the UFC. The Mexican last fought back at UFC Brasilia where he beat Jussier Formiga by decision. Before that, he edged out another decision over Kai Kara-France to get back into the win column after having a draw against Askarov in his return fight in the UFC.

Askar Aksarov, meanwhile, is 12-0-1 as a pro and coming off a decision win over Alexandre Pantoja last Saturday. Before that, he beat Tim Elliott at UFC 246 by decision and in his UFC debut had the draw against Moreno.

No matter who Figueiredo fights between Moreno and Askarov, it should be a great scrap.
