Adam Shelley vs Steven Hooper Set for Cage Warriors 135

Breaking: Adam Shelley vs Steven Hooper Set for Cage Warriors 135

A lightweight fight between Ireland’s Adam Shelley (1-1) and England’s Steven Hooper (5-4) is set to take place at Cage Warriors 135 on Friday, April 1 in Manchester’s BEC Arena. Multiple sources with knowledge of the matchup confirmed the news to MyMMANews.com.

Adam Shelley trains out of Team KF in Dublin, under the tutelage of Irish MMA pioneer and former Cage Warriors middleweight champion Chris Fields. The 27-year-old two-time Taekwondo world champion brought a wealth of striking experience to MMA, when Shelley made his amateur debut in 2019.

After a 4-1 amateur run that saw him finish all of his wins via strikes, Shelley turned professional. His debut was one to forget, suffering a submission defeat. However, Shelley rebounded strong by besting an undefeated Daniele Scagliusi (3-0) over three rounds at Cage Conflict 5, which earned him a call-up from the UK’s premier MMA promotion. In December 2021, Shelley signed a multi-fight deal with Cage Warriors, as the organisation listed him in a list of 21 new signings.

Steven Hooper will welcome Shelley into the Cage Warriors lightweight division when the pair lock horns at CW135. Hooper trains out of SBG Manchester and has already competed in the famous yellow gloves on four occasions. The 31-year-old BJJ brown belt has won 4 of his 5 pro victories via submission, though he has struggled to find consistency to date. In his most recent outing at CW120, Hooper lost to the surging, undefeated Mike Figlak (4-0), and “Clocky T” will be looking to return to the win column vs Shelley.

Cage Warriors 135 takes place on Friday 1st April and will be broadcast LIVE on UFC Fight Pass.
