Jackie Buntan in 1st ever ONE Strawweight Muay Thai title bout (Exclusive)
Jackie Buntan positions herself to potentially become a first-time titleholder in ONE Championship history.
Buntan has now picked up multiple Muy Thai victories inside of the ONE Circle. The Boxing Works product is now 3-0 under the ONE Championship banner.
Since signing with the promotion in October 2019, Jackie Buntan has been showcasing her skill in big ways. Emerging victorious on some huge shows ala ONE on TNT IV and on the history-making, all women martial arts extravaganza ONE: Empower.
It took a bit for her debut to transpire because of pandemic-related uncertainties in the first quarter of 2020. Jackie Buntan has seemingly been making up for lost time with this trifecta of successful performances underneath her now in ONE Super Series competition.
Buntan last secured a victory inside the Circle at the aforementioned Empower show over Daniela Lopez.
She scored a clear-cut unanimous decision victory which was comprehensive all throughout. The clash also featured a moment where Lopez was rocked and had to overcome some adversity.
Jackie Buntan worked with w/ K1 flyweight champ Kana Morimoto and ONE Atomweight kickboxing champ Janet Todd in her last camp. Per recent news directly from ONE Championship, Buntan has a chance to cement herself as a world champion among those combat compatriots.
I spoke with ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong and he let me know one side of the looming inaugural Strawweight Muay Thai world title fight.

Chatri Sityodtong stated, “Yes, I can break that news with you here. I’ve already told Jackie this, you deserve a world title shot. So we will create the inaugural Muay Thai World Championship in the Strawweight division for her and her opponent. Stay tuned for who the opponent is going to be.”
