Caged Thunder 12 returns to Ohio with plenty of stoppages

Caged Thunder returned to the Ohio MMA scene for the first time since March 2020, as the promotion held Caged Thunder 12 at Chapparells Event Center in Akron.

The amateur fight card featured a total of 14 bouts, 11 of which ended in stoppage victories. That included both the main and co-main events.

In the main event, Jermaine Anthony snapped a two-fight losing streak to move his record for Caged Thunder to 3-0 with a guillotine choke victory over Jacob Bostic. It took the Victory Martial Arts product just 59 seconds to earn the win. Anthony also earned a first round victory via guillotine choke at Caged Thunder 11 last year. Bostic has now dropped three in a row and four of five after starting his career 4-1.

In the co-main event, welterweight Braden Liggett knocked out Anson Hunnell in the second round. It was the second win in a row for Liggett, who hadn’t competed since November 2019.

Former Cleveland State wrestler Chase Archangelo was successful in his amateur debut, as he submitted Nicholas Jackson with a rear naked choke in the first round. Archangelo won three state titles in Delaware and was a two-time All-American. He trains at Strong Style Fight Team alongside former UFC champion Stipe Miocic.
