Brendan Allen talks upcoming fight and recently visiting a children’s hospital
Brendan Allen has been busy this year and he’s hoping to end 2022 on another high note when he returns to the octagon at UFC Vegas 61.
Allen kicked off the year in February with submission win over Sam Alvey to get back on a winning track after ending 2021 on a losing note.
Then a few months later, Allen had his first international fight when he traveled to Singapore for UFC 275. In that fight, Allen had to battle Jacob Malkoun and he edged out a unanimous decision win on the judges’ scorecards.
While it’s clear that Allen has been busy with the fight game this year, he didn’t let his training get in the way of a touching event that made a difference in children’s lives.
Prior to UFC 278 in August, Allen was headed to the event and asked the UFC if he could be involved with some promotional work. Originally, the UFC planned to let Allen be a part of a fan meet-and-greet, but then the decided to go a different route.
Instead of having Allen sign autographs and take photos with fans, the company decided to have Allen, Brandon Moreno, Justin Gaethje and Jalin Turner visit a children’s hospital in Salt Lake City and hang out with sick children for the day.
For Allen, the smiles on the kids’ faces gave him a new outlook on life and he’ll never forget that experience.
Following the visit, Allen went back to Sanford MMA in Florida with a new attitude and now as camp finishes up, he’ll look to apply everything that has transpired over the course of the last few weeks when he takes on UFC veteran Krzysztof Jotko at UFC Vegas 61 on Oct. 1.
Prior to the fight, Allen spoke with MyMMANews about he’s quest for a perfect 3-0 record this year, his thoughts on his matchup with Jotko and his experience with the children’s hospital ahead of UFC 278.
