Brendan Allen Earns Close Decision Over Jacob Malkoun

UFC 275: Teixeira vs. Procházka goes down TONIGHT live on PPV, at Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore

A double header for the event, at the top of the bill the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship will be on the line between current champion Glover Teixeira and former Rizin Light Heavyweight Champion Jiří Procházka. Strawweight Champion Valentina Shevchenko looks to make another successful defence of her belt against Talia Santos.

Also on the card, former champions rematch Zhang Weili and Joanna Jędrzejczyk takes place on the main card.

In this play-by-play we will highlight a bout between Brendan Allen vs Jacob Malkoun, a pivotal middleweight clash with both fighters looking to make a run at the rankings. Allen (18-5) is a huge favourite and is 3-2 in his past five fights with two finishes in the span — both losses have come by TKO. Malkoun (6-1), UFC career began with a loss but he has bounced back since with consecutive wins.

Here’s how the fight played out round by round:

ROUND 1:

Your referee in charge, Jason Herzog. Brendan Allen vs Jacob Malkoun at middleweight, this one will be interesting. Allen opens up straight away with the leg kicks. A big right hand connection from Allen. Allen is getting started early and looking really sharp. Malkoun lands a solid jab to the face which caused a reaction from Allen. A takedown attempt from Malkoun, he gets Allen to the mat. Allen trying to work his way and and uses the whizer and now Allen is on top, but that doesn’t last long, Malkoun back on top. Exciting first round.

ROUND 2:

Early on both fighters trading jabs, Malkoun seeming to connect more frequently. After a short stint striking, Malkoun gets his wrestling underway again and we are back to a familiar position, Malkoun on top. The rest of the round Malkoun rides the back of Allen and banks another round.

ROUND 3:

Allen’s corner were very animated “you need a finish”. Single leg from Malkoun, rinse and repeat from the grappler. Elbows landed from Allen on his back. Allen forces a scramble, now he’s on top and for the first time in the fight it seems Allen is in control of the fight. The buzzer goes and a face of two different stories.
