Jake Matthews Viciously Folds Andre Fialho at UFC 275

UFC 275: Teixeira vs. Procházka goes down TONIGHT live on PPV, at Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore

A double header for the event, at the top of the bill the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship will be on the line between current champion Glover Teixeira and former Rizin Light Heavyweight Champion Jiří Procházka. Strawweight Champion Valentina Shevchenko looks to make another successful defence of her belt against Talia Santos.

Also on the card, former champions rematch Zhang Weili and Joanna Jędrzejczyk takes place on the main card.

In this play-by-play we will highlight a bout between Andre Fialho vs. Jake Matthews. Fialho (16-4) and Matthews (17-5) find themselves promoted on the UFC 275 main card after Rogerio Bontorin was hospitalised and his fight with Manel Kape was called off. Fialho has already fought three times in 2022 scoring back-to-back stoppage wins. Matthews, meanwhile, hasn’t fought since March 2021 and is looking to bounce back after being submitted in a loss to Sean Brady.

Here’s how the fight played out round by round:

ROUND 1:

Here we go, keep a close eye on this one. Calf kicks early from Matthews. Both fighters very patient early on, Matthews getting his game started quicker then Fialho. This is a very technical fight on the feet, Matthews keeps catching Fialho on the end of his punches. Fialho unloads on Mathews against the cage and Matthews returns fire and gets the better of the exchange. Fialho clips Matthews at the end and the buzzer goes.

MyMMANews.com scores it: 10-9 to Matthews

ROUND 2:

What a crazy end to the first round let’s hope we get more of the same. Matthews opening up with the kicks, and lands a picture perfect left hand on Fialho and the Portuguese is on shaky legs. Matthews unloading and landing his combinations, Fialho trying to circle on uncertain legs. They return back to the centre and this is where Matthews is shining. Left hook from Matthews has Fialho stumbling once again, this time Matthews doesn’t let Fialho recover and he folds him up against the cage unconscious. WOW.

Official Result: Jake Matthews def. Andre Fialho via knockout (punches) – Round 2, 2:24
