Brennan Ward: “If everything goes according to my plan, I’m going to knock this kid out”
Brennan Ward is the fighting definition of chaos and destruction. Inside the Bellator cage, he can be defined as pure violence and if you know his life story, he’s battled and beaten drug addiction, and now at Bellator 298, he can play the spoiler role. Set to take on South Dakota’s own Logan Storley in his backyard, Ward has an opportunity to not only put himself in a very beneficial position, but take away what Storley currently has.
Storley, the former interim welterweight champion, sits as the top-contender in Bellator’s middleweight division and that’s nothing but opportunity for Ward to come in and take that away, with a fight. Speaking to the media on Wednesday ahead of his marquee matchup, Ward spoke about being a brawler who doesn’t care where a fight is taking place or who he is facing, and someone who will stick to his plan and get the job done as he sees fit.
Doing nothing more than seeing things for what they are, Brennan Ward has big plans and intentions against Logan Storley, and while at first when he returned to the Bellator MMA promotion he wasn’t sure what his plans were, but after his thrilling fight against Sabah Homasi on CBS earlier this year, Ward finds himself in a main event where he can play hometown spoiler, make a huge jump in the rankings, and assert himself as a top contender for a title fight.
“Listen, I see things for what they are, I really do. I’m not like this huge optimist, so with the Homasi fight, I knew what would happen. I knew it was going to be messy at first, it was going to be f***ing crazy, I knew we were gonna slug it out, I knew I was going to get hit, and then I knew if I kept putting that f***ing pressure on, shit would start to turn my way, and it did. Nothing is awoken in me, I can see what can happen, if I do my part, I can predict my outcome.”
That mindset of doing his part, knowing who he is as a fighter, and sticking to the plan has Brennan Ward confident that come Friday night, there will be a stoppage in the second round.
“Just like Friday night, if everything goes to my plan, I’m going to f***ing knock this kid out, probably late in the second round. If it goes my way, if it goes the way I’m seeing it, it might not.”
Never stepping out of his element or reading too much into the moment, Brennan Ward is coming with bad intentions against Logan Storley on Friday night at Bellator 298, and if things go according to plan, there will be a new top contender in the welterweight division.
