Jack Marshman, Brett Johns first Welsh fighters signed to UFC roster
Last month Jack Marshman (20-5) became the first fighter from Wales signed to the UFC. Now, Brett Johns (10-0) will follow as he too was signed to mixed martial arts promotion.
The UFC invades Belfast, Ireland on November 19 and that is where Marshman will take on Magnus Cedenblad.
Marshman was the Cage Warriors Fighting Championship middleweight champion before vacating his belt to head to the UFC.
Johns will fight alongside his fellow countryman as he takes on South Korea’s Kwan Ho Kwak (9-0) in Belfast.
Known as “The Pikey,” was the Titan Fighting Championship bantamweight champion.
Johns tells MyMMANews.com, “I’m over the moon!!! I’ve achieved my dream of putting on them black leather gloves with UFC written across them. I got told by my manager (Brian Butler) from SuckerPunch Entertainment and I started to cry my eyes out. Im so happy!!! Like I said it’s a dream come true.”
UFC Fight Night 99 takes places at the SSE Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The card is headlined by a rematch between Gegard Mousasi and Uriah Hall.
