Cage Warriors 111: Paddy Pimblett vs. Joe Giannetti Bout Added

Cage Warriors 111 adds a giant fight to the London card as local superstar, Paddy Pimblett, takes on former UFC talent, Joe Giannetti in a lightweight bout. Giannetti steps in to replace Donovan Desmae who was forced to pull out of the fight due to an injury. The Bostoner is set to board a plane to London to Pimblett’s back yard to make a statement to the world. The fight takes place November 22 at the O2 Arena in London, UK.

Paddy Pimblett

The Liverpool superstar, Paddy Pimblett, hasn’t competed in MMA since he lost to Søren Bak for the vacant lightweight Cage Warriors title last year. He lost a grappling match to the UFC’s Stevie Ray earlier this year as well at Polaris 11. Pimblett moved up to to lightweight to challenge for the belt. He continues his run at lightweight against Giannetti. The author of several eye popping submissions, including a flying triangle against Alexis Savvidis at Cage Warriors 90, will bring his best tricks to the bout.

Joe Giannetti

Joe Giannetti comes into Cage Warriors 111 with a record of 2-2-1 in his last five. He appeared on season 27 of The Ultimate Fighter beating John Gunther and Allen Zuñgia, and falling to Mike Trizano in the finals by a split decision. Gunther’s goal is to get back to the UFC.

Giannetti says, “I’ve got a goal to get back into the UFC, Paddy’s got a goal to get to the UFC, so we’re going to find out who’s the others’ stepping stone.” He continues, “I hope he’s not expecting an easy night because I got the call last minute. We bring a different type of energy in Boston.”

Pimblett is grateful that Giannetti is stepping in short notice. “Stepping in on ten days notice, most people wouldn’t do it.”

”Considering everyone says they want to fight me, when the opportunity came up, they all went missing.”

“I’m grateful to Joe for stepping up, but it’s a bad decision for him. I don’t think he’s been finished before, so this will be the first time he’s been finished in his career.”
