Cerrone To Henderson: “Let’s Go Get 50-F***ing-K, Brother”
There are many reasons to love a fighter like Donald Cerrone.
For starters, he is willing to fight anyone and anytime. The other, he always wants to go all out and win the performance of the night award. And why not? That is an extra $50,000 bonus in his pocket.
Cerrone knows Benson Henderson from past encounters (having fought twice back in their WEC days). Cerrone text messaged Henderson saying “No hard feelings. Let’s go get 50-f***ing-K, brother”.
Henderson ‘ s retort, “Hell yeah.”
Cerrone is no stranger to winning the performance of the night (formerly split into three awards: fight of the night, knockout of the night, and submission of the night). Cerrone has won the award nine times in 16 UFC appearances.
That is a performance award every other fight.
It is an attitude like this that fighters should have, go out there and put on a show. Win or lose, get in there and fight.
“I could sit back and wait like every other fighter,” said Cerrone in regards to taking this fight two weeks after defeating Miles Jury.
This is not the first time Cerrone has taken a fight on such short notice. Back in July, Jim Miller’s opponent pulled out due to injury. Cerrone stepped in on one week’s notice to take the fight. The result was Cerrone winning by KO, and yes, winning a performance of the night award as well.
