Chad Anheliger discusses his upcoming fight at UFC 279 and his journey to the UFC

Chad Anheliger didn’t have an amateur career when he was starting his fighting career and as a result, his road to the UFC has been interesting.

For most fighters, the amateur ranks usually serve as a time where fighters make mistakes, and they learn from them. Anheliger didn’t have that time period, so he had to use his first few professional fighters as a learning experience.

In his first seven fights, Anheliger went 2-5 and after a series of tough experiences inside of the cage, he made the decisions to change gyms and that ended up being the best decision he ever made.

Since joining Champion’s Creed MMA, the Calgary native has not only fixed whatever mistakes he was making, but he is also undefeated under the gym’s leadership.

Anheliger has now won 10 straight fights and one of those wins includes his first UFC win ever when he knocked out Jesse Strader.

Now Anheliger is all ready to make his second walk to the octagon and he is excited to do it on a big stage as Anheliger will fight Heili Alateng on Sept. 10 at UFC 279.

Prior to the fight, Anheliger spoke with MyMMANews about his matchup with Alateng, his journey to the UFC and his love for fishing and the Calgary Flames.

You can watch his full interview in the video above.
