Chael Sonnen’s daughter born prematurely, fighting Listeria
Blauna Dian Sonnen was born Friday, August 12, in Portland, Oregon to Brittany (Smith) and Chael Sonnen. Chael, of course, is the well-known brash talking mixed martial artist who has fought for multiple world titles.
Blauna was born 10 weeks premature and is now battling Listeria, “a serious infection usually caused by eating food contaminated with the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes,” as described by the Center for Disease Control.
According to doctors, Britanny contracted the Listeria which was then passed down to the couple’s daughter.
“Sonnen is currently unsure how his wife contracted the disease. He has retained the law firm Flesher Schaff & Schroeder Inc. to investigate whether she consumed contaminated food, and they have already reached out to the CDC and FDA on behalf of the Sonnen family.” – MMA Fighting
“She’s in a battle and we are prepared to fight,” Sonnen said.
